Drinking – Country Pubs – November 2000
This grand, imposing building was built in the 16th century as a coaching inn. It fell on hard times back in the Nineties; Bass didn’t know what to do with it, so they sold it to a partnership team of Diccon Wright and Peter Cornwell. They have transformed the pub, and its fortunes, into a very sleek operation over two floors which includes bars and a restaurant area.
